Jessie Haas grew up on a small farm in Westminster, VT. After attending Wellesley College she and her husband Michael J. Daley built a tiny cabin in the woods using only hand tools. Living off-grid and on a small scale allowed the couple to be full-time activists and writers. Haas has won several distinguished awards as the author of 40 books for children and adults. Her books for adults include two local histories, Revolutionary Westminster, and Westminster VT, 1738-200; Township No. One. She is currently working on a young adult novel centered on the Westminster Massacre and Fanny Montresor, who was a 15-year old resident of Westminster in 1775, and who would later marry Ethan Allen.
