Nelle Harper Lee (April 28, 1926 – February 19, 2016), author of the classic of American literature, To Kill a Mockingbird, has ties to West Brattleboro. According to Casey Cep, author of the new book Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud, and the Last Trial of Harper Lee, Lee conducted some of her research and writing in West Brattleboro.
